14 Year Old Florida Phenomenon Professional Pickleball Player Wins US Open Women’s Singles Bronze Medal Sunday; Mom Wins Silver Medal Monday
NAPLES, FL (April 20, 2021) -- On Sunday April 18, Anna Leigh Waters, 14, won the Bronze Medal in the Pro Women’s Singles bracket at the Minto US OPEN Pickleball Championships defeating the world’s number 2 ranked player, Catherine Parenteau, in three games: 8-11,11-6,11-2 (Watch video: Bronze Medal Game 3 - 11 minutes)
Earlier in the day, Catherine sent Anna Leigh to the Consolation Bracket beating the teenager on center court: 11-5,11-8.
Delray Beach based Anna Leigh and her mother Leigh Waters are the current Women’s Doubles Professional Pickleball National Champions. TeamWaters won the 2019 title by beating Catherine and Southern California based Jessie Irvine in three games. (Gold Medal Match Video)
On Monday April 19, Leigh won a Silver Medal with Jennifer Dawson in the new US Open bracket, Womens Pro Split Age: one player must be over 50 and the other must be under 50 years old. Jennifer won a US Open Gold Medal Sunday in the Senior Women’s Singles bracket.
The mother/daughter duo will attempt to win their first US Open medal in Pro Women’s Doubles on Friday, April 23.
